Bleep bloop, me again.
The Lekgolo - or Hunter - is one of the more formidable adversaries in the Halo universe and now you'll be able to have a full army of them in Halo Wars 2, lead by a deadly new leader: Colony, as well as a varitey of new units to complement the playstyle of their leader. These guys are the some of the tankiest units in the Halo Wars game, with units able to soak up massive damage and deal out just as much in return if you're not careful.
Here's a short summary of some of the new units and abilities
Hunter Captain - Hero unit with heavy armour and health draining siphon beam and a Taunt ability to redirect...
Evening ladies, gentlemen and those of an alternative nature. I invite you to sit down and read this wonderful update.
The Popular Web Series Red vs Blue has been going on for over 20 years and 14 seasons, and season 15 has just started with a whole new story line featuring everyone's favourite machinimated misfits. The Reds and Blues and they've come full circle back to the box canyon of Blood Gulch (again). Expect hi-jinks, hilarity and a whole lot of immature jokes. Watch it a week early on the Roosterteeth website with their First subscription, or wait a week and watch it on YouTube. Watch the trailer here:
343i Interviewed their UX Design Lead Vincent Hui on their website recently, giving us a new insight into what it takes to design and develop the interactive menus and player HUD in the game, how to make a good user...
Evening everyone, it's that time again where we round up the weekly Halo news and bundle it up in text and image form for your occular receptors to enjoy.
Ok, got that one out the way.
HCS World Finals was last week and if you don't want spoilers, skip this section!
It was the Green Wall Optic Gaming who took the crown, beating a very strong Team EnVyus in a 4-0 series to take home $500,000. EnVyus were looking strong having a good lead in the first three games, but the Green Wall pushed back hard to take each game from behind (stop sniggering in the back!). Over the course of the entire event, Optic only managed to drop 2 games, which is an impressive feat to say the least. It was a well attended event even with attempts for certain people to make it seem otherwise. It could have probably been held in a nicer place (EU finals were in Wembley Stadium of all places!) but...
I'm Back! (Sorry it's late, I had very little sleep)
The convention was a success and everyone enjoyed all those hens in some splendid ties. Here, I brought back some samples.
*walks around handing out free complimentary ties*
It's been a big weekend, with the Halo World Championship Series being played between the best of the best players in the world. The final match came down to the Green Wall that is Optic Gaming against their long time esports rivals: Team EnVy. At the time of writing they're currently locking horns for the title with EnVyUS making an amazing comeback from the losers bracket to get into the Grand Finals. Optic Gaming seem to be the runaway favourites, but everyone loves an underdog so here's hoping that EnVyUS comes along and knocks them down a peg. It's going to be a big one! It's been a mad tournament so far with some amazing plays, especially from Huke from...
That's right; we aren't using a weird European date format for this one.
Your regular roundup wrangler, ♥ Sky, is busy this week (he mentioned something about hens wearing ties) so I'm filling in to bring you your latest dose of Halo news.
Arguably the biggest news from the Haloverse in the last week is the new update coming to Halo Wars 2. This update will drop "early next week" and will include a new playable leader with several accompanying units and leader powers. Morgan Kinsano is a former Hellbringer who now leads armies with an emphasis on fire damage from the cockpit of her souped-up Cyclops. To learn more about this new addition to HW2's leader roster, check out the ViDoc below.
In addition to the new content shipping with Kinsano, the update will also include a host of bug fixes and stability...
It's that time again, open your ears and broaden your horizons for this week's Weekly Update.
Lets start off in the miniature world with Halo Wars 2, which received a patch/update on the 7th of March, bringing with it a whole host of patches and fixes for both versions of the game on Windows 10 and Xbox One. The patch also served as a preparation update for the future ranked multiplayer game modes. As well as a host of bug fixes and performance improvements, some small balance changes were made based on designer and initial player feedback.
Here's a list of some of the highlights for the balance changes:
Ramming Vehicles now take increased reflect damage
Bloodfuel Locust card cost increased from 60 to 80
Marine grenade secondary area of effect damage increased from 30% to 50%
Scout Vehicles deal reduced damage against Non-scout vehicles
Yesterday, we held our first Community versus Community event with 343i Community Forum. The lobby began with a few warm up matches on several maps including Brutalist, Solasium, and Citadel. It was at this time that I remembered how bad I am at Halo. Nevertheless, I was positive that Team HaloCustoms would claim this victory with the likes of Sky, CDX34 , and SteelGreen on our side. When the members of 343i Community Forum began to show their prowess on the virtual battlefield, however, that mindset quickly shifted. Thus begins the tale of the greatest rekking of our time...
Game 1 - Slayer on Perseus
HaloCustoms - 10 | 343i Community Forum - 50
Game 1 was the storm before the storm (yes, you read that right). Those of us on Team HaloCustoms entered the match with our hopes high, but it was all for naught in the end. Our...
Hello, HaloCustards! Before you ask, no, I didn't spell "Staff" wrong in the title. Since you guys couldn't seem to beat the staff more than once in the past, we thought it was about time to take a break from SvC and to introduce a new, similar event; Community versus Community!
Community versus Community is a small event that'll provide the residents of HaloCustoms with an opportunity to represent our forum. The concept is simple; HaloCustoms and their adversaries will pool together a group of Spartans to fight for their honor in a series of three best-of-five matches over the course of this coming weekend. These matches can range from Swat on Riptide to race on Bowser's Castle! Now, this is where the community comes in. Each forum community can choose a total of seven maps and modes to be played during the event. The fun part is that we can choose...
Good evening and welcome to another Halo Customs weekly roundup. This week, we'll be taking you through a week in the life of an Unggoy Suicide Bomber. We'll be talking to Drogul about his job, family life, and why he chose to throw himself head first with a plasma grenade in each hand at the UNSC forces from the Spirit of Fire to secure himself a place on the Great Journey. Oh, what's that? Atriox already sent him on a mission to destroy the enemy base but he got run over by an angry Marine in a Warthog? Damn, we didn't prepare any other news... Quick, someone get Frank to rustle something up.
There's always something interesting going on in the Halo community. This week it's the latest in commercial partnerships 343i have partnered up with Paramount Pictures to bring us a forge contest with a twist, centered around their upcoming sci-fi film Ghost in the Shell. Maps...
343 Industries just announced their latest forge competition and trust me, this one is very interesting. The objective here is to forge a map that recreates "the look and feel" of the Ghost in the Shell universe. For those that aren't aware, Ghost in the Shell is an upcoming science-fiction, action film directed by Rupert Sanders, based on the Japanese series of the same name. You can find a quick summary of the competition below.
With each month that passes, the Halo community continues to surprise us with the unique maps created in Halo 5’s Forge mode on both Xbox One and Windows 10. To celebrate the Halo World Championship, we’ve partnered with Paramount Pictures and the upcoming film Ghost in the Shell, and are excited to reveal the Forge community’s next challenge - the Ghost In the Shell Halo 5 Forge Contest!
At the Halo World Championship Finals next month in sunny...
Hello, and welcome to a new segment, the HaloCustoms Weekly™ Roundup!
I'm your wonderful host, ♥ Sky, and I'll be talking you through this weeks news in the Halo world and a few bits from beyond.
In our main headline tonight, Halo Wars 2 was released! Everyone's favourite RTS from the 26th Century is back with a bang, pitting Atriox and his hairy mates against the wiley old Cutter and the crew of his venerable ship, the Spirit of Fire. The release live stream aired last Thursday and gave everyone a glimpse of the full game, including some live blitz games between some of the 343i staff and community members, including our own lovable Psychoduck playing for the 343i team. If you missed the live stream, here's the VOD from the Xbox YouTube channel.
Be sure to keep an eye out for Mister Duck, he even gets some good screen time, taking...
Over the duration of our Par for the Course Battle Golf Forge Contest, we've been a bit concerned by low turnout. Battle Golf is an awesome, fun, and unique game mode in need of exciting new courses to be played on. However, the original course in the Action Sack playlist also set a precedent for maps making heavy use of scripting. Despite our assurance that contest entries do not require these scripted elements, this likely intimidated several would-be contestants. The prizes on offer also were admittedly rather underwhelming: we initially wanted this to be a simple contest with a short timeframe and set the prize pool accordingly.
"His Name... Is Atriox.
The whole damn covenant couldn't contain him at the height of their power.
All you've got is one old ship and half a crew to staff her?"
"Where you see half a crew, I see family.
And where you see one old ship, I see hope.
That is always worth fighting for!"
Halo Wars is back for the latest generation, this time you'll be facing up against a very angry brute with a giant hammer. It's not just him either, he's brought his big and hairy brute friends too, the Banished. You'll be fighting your battles on familiar ground, with the Ark taking centre stage in the latest confrontation between The UNSC and The Covenant. You'll be leading the UNSC forces from the Spirit of Fire against the Banished, an enemy so dangerous even the rest of the Covenant couldn't stop them. From your birds-eye view of the battlefield you'll have to fight your way across the...
Last December, Halo 5's Monitor's Bounty content update introduced the ability to create custom game modes via Forge scripting. This scripting system is fairly complex (and admittedly a little buggy at times), but that hasn't stopped AnonFriction from churning out three beloved classic Halo modes.
Anon, or Josh, volunteered his time as an on-site cartographer to help create the maps and modes which went live in the Action Sack playlist with the Monitor's Bounty update. Since then, he's put the scripting knowledge he gained there to work recreating classic game modes.
Rocket Race is one of the three modes AnonFriction has recreated so far
Josh has set each of his modes up as a prefab which can be easily dropped onto a map to set the modes up with only minor tweaks required. He's also gone arguably way over the top and set...
You might have noticed that our staff team has grown thinner since the end of last year. Well, that's why I'm here today! Simply put, we're looking for members to join our staff team. We aim to provide content and facilitate discussion here at HaloCustoms, so we need an active team of people who're invested in the Halo franchise. If that sounds like you, please take a gander below.
We want to make our team more diverse, so we're looking for event organizers, article writers, and lobby hosts. The application is for a general moderator position, however, so feel free to apply even if those specific responsibilities don't appeal to you.
What we expect:
• Be an active member of the forum
• Participate in discussions of events, articles, etc
• Write articles
• General moderation (bots, forum maintenance, etc)
We have decided to extend the deadline for our Par for the Course Battle Golf Forge Contest by three weeks! This will place the deadline approximately a month from now, more than enough time to start a submission of your own if you haven't yet done so. We understand Battle Golf is a complex mode to forge for, especially for those of you going the extra mile to script your maps to change each round. We'd like to remind you all that this is not a requirement, but e certainly don't want to discourage entrants from doing so with an early deadline either.
New deadline: February 19th at 11:59 PM EST
If you need a bit of inspiration, check out these Battle Golf courses which have already been created!
Gingerbread Falls by original Battle Golf creator...
Welcome, everyone, to HaloCustoms' Par for the Course Battle Golf Forge Contest! With the release of the new Mini Game mode and forge options in the recent Monitor's Bounty update, we at HC decided the time was ripe for our first mini game-oriented contest in a very long time. Battle Golf is a new official mini game created by 343 Industries in which two teams compete to knock their golf balls into a central hole. The single course currently present in the Action Sack playlist is the home of all sorts of insane shenanigans, but it also seems a bit lonely. That's why we'd like to see each of you put your own unique spin on Battle Golf with courses of your own!
If you haven't played Battle Golf yet (you probably should), you can see the game mode in action below. Documentation on how to script Battle Golf can be downloaded...

HaloCostumes was birthed during a turbulent time for the Halo community. Halo 4 had recently been released, and its controversial launch was bound to bring change of one sort or another. Despite many of us being concerned, even disappointed by the recent turn the franchise had taken, we were hopeful that we could create something special. Each member of the original staff team had previous...
