Take an incineration cannon, binary rifle, light rifle, or suppressor and turn it to point straight up and then put it on fixed physics and boom there is you building guide have fun

Take a look at some of the Forerunner themed maps in Halo 4. You could go through the campaign and Spartan Ops. Lots of Forerunner stuffs there.
The trick is the curves... Damn forerunners, y u make stuff so complicated!
