This is one of my favourite games.

Awesomenauts is a 2D sidescrolling MOBA. (Think League of Legends, DOTA) It's only $10 and is available on PC, Mac, XBLA, and PSN. It's also much more accessible and fun than the aforementioned games in my opinion.

The goal of the game is to destroy the opposing team's defensive turrets with the help of your team mates and ultimately destroy their base. There are currently 12 characters in the game, each one with it's own unique playstyle. They are very different from one another, and can be specialised further through customizable loadouts (Something which is fairly unique to a MOBA game!) Each character has 2 different skills as well as an attack that can be upgraded.

The game is upgraded regularly on PC and they are always adding new characters and skins. Best of all, new characters are always free!

Unfortunately they are not able to update the game on Xbox due to some issues with their publisher or something, but it's still pretty fun on there. The PC version is definitely superior though, even though it was released on consoles first. Maybe try the game first on XBLA (Trial) and then purchase on Steam if you like it?

Here's the PC trailer if you're interested:

I'd also be interested to know if anyone else already plays this game.

How good is the pc version in comparison? I assume much better, but is it like TF2 much better, or like minecraft much better?

This seems like so much fun, I've actually wanted to play this for a while, but just haven't gotten down to it. :(

Any idea when they'll figure it out with the xbox version?

It is closer to TF2 much better.

Possibly not ever. :(

Here is a post from one of the devs on their forums concerning this.

There have been a lot of questions about whether another console patch is coming, after July's patch which already added Coco and Derpl for free. We cannot give a definite yes or no to that, but what we can say, is that right now we are not working on a console patch, and it would be very difficult to do another console patch. We hope explaining why will make our console players understand the situation a bit better. We cannot go into some details, because agreements with publishers and consoles require confidentiality, but we hope this gives you an idea.

Here's an outline of the problems:
-Console patching/DLC is very expensive (although the reasons are more complex than simply that a certain console manufacturer may or may not charge a certain amount of money).
-Console patching/DLC is not just expensive, it also has some very severe technical limitations on certain consoles. We cannot go into details, but creating a console patch with the amount of changes we have would just be incredibly complex and thus a lot of work. For example, all the characters were remade for the PC version to allow for free-aim and we would need to use the new versions to get Raelynn working on console, making the patch very big, which is problematic on certain consoles.
-Steam patching is ridiculously easy. The patching there is so easy and inexpensive that it would be almost weird not to patch on Steam. Seriously, Valve did a fantastic job.
-The game sold fine on console, but it took us three years to make the game and thus a lot of money. Some people say we should spend our money to create console patches, but as a company we also need to make back our investment for development of the game in the first place.
-There needs to be a certain balance between how much it costs us to do a patch, and how much extra money through sales/DLC that patch makes. Because the whole patching story is so expensive on console, it is difficult to make it work financially.
-The Steam version is owned entirely by Ronimo, while the console version is done together with a publisher (DTP). That makes the finances and practicalities a lot more complex, and DTP being insolvent right now also adds more complexity to the whole situation. We cannot comment on any details, but let's just say that it is a lot simpler to make business decisions for the Steam version.

Awesomenauts is currently a part of The Humble Indie Bundle 8! For anyone who was interested in the game but hesitant to buy it, now is the perfect time!

Not to mention, the game is currently in the most balanced state it has been in for quite awhile. There is a 14th character coming out soon, and a 4th map has been added to the original 3.

If anyone decides to buy it, add me on Steam. ID: Homeless Potato
